Meet the team
In 1991 after having studied Mechanical Engineering and working for Eskom in the project management department, Kendal power station, I decided to go it alone and do full time that which I was doing before on a ad hoc basis.
So for the past 20 years I have been doing repairs and maintenance for my Handyman Business. In process I have gathered a vast range of knowledge and experience. My primary passion has been for carpentry and have completed numerous projects from repairs and restorations of furniture to building new pieces. I have decided to pursue this aspect more fully and therefore started 'Edelweiss Studio'.

Marcel Nieuwenhuizen
Birgitte Mühldorfer
Birgitte Muhldorfer grew up in Switzerland and made a diploma in Architectural Model Building. After years working as model builder and snowboard builder she decided to do some travelling and spend several month in South Africa and America. Following Birgitte was destined to get some expirience in the field of commercial economy and worked at Siemens Schweiz AG in Zürich where she had an insight in administrative, logistics, marketing, organisation, coordination and technology and communicated on an international basis.
After meeting Marcel Nieuwenhuizen in 2002 she decided to come to South Africa. They resided to Midrand and got married in 2004 and following their daughter Delphi was born. In 2009 their son Kai was born.
Since Birgitte imigrated to South Africa she has always been working in the business of Marcel's Handyman Service. Their mutual passion for creating something beautiful and functional made them decide to start the 'Edelweiss Studio'.
